Breakfast

Breakfast is my favorite meal. It has always been this way, but it is only within the past few years that I have had the time to have a leisurely breakfast every day of the week. I eat breakfast and read the papers, every day.

For years my breakfast was coffee, milk and cereal and a banana. Then, one day I said I am not going to eat cereal for breakfast any more. Instead, I decided that I would alternate between having English muffin and one egg, or peanut butter on either rye or whole wheat toast. Coffee, of course. And not just ordinary coffee, but either home made cappuccino or freshly brewed filter coffee.

The cappuccino is great because I use a Pavoni Italian Espresso Maker that I bought in Italy. It is the old fashioned kind. Very aesthetic to look at because it is a shiny steel plated hand crank machine. It makes a lot of noise, however, when I make the foamed milk.

It is important to eat a protein for breakfast because then I feel quite satisfied until lunch. No snacks or anything necessary between the two meals.

On Sundays I cook French toast. This is the meal I enjoy the most, and who wouldn't? I suppose everyone knows how to make French toast, but this is my recipe.

French Toast for one person.
1 egg
1 or 2 tablespoons of milk
2 slices of good bakery white bread

I mix the egg, and milk together and let the bread absorb the entire mixture.

Then I cook it on each side using a griddle that I have buttered with one teaspoon of butter. Serve with cinnamon sugar. Eat while reading the Sunday paper.
