Is it Possible to Lose Weight and Keep it Off
I am an expert in the weight loss department. I started weight loss programs during high school and was quite thin by the time I was twenty. Then came years of up and down weight gain and loss. This is not a good way to live, I knew, but I didn’t seem to catch on to the real secret of losing weight and then, keeping the weight off, or relatively so, until it finally hit me. There is no diet that works forever. The only thing that works is to recognize that calories do count and so does exercise That good nutrition, three balanced meals a day that includes a protein for breakfast, a protein, fruit and vegetables for lunch, and protein, fruit, vegetables, and desert for dinner. In addition, exercise in the form of walking is the beginning of learning how to maintain a stable weight. Eat less and move more is the way to lose weight. To keep it off, continue to eat less and move more, but always allow yourself to eat desert in small quantities. I found that if I felt deprived, I compensated for the feeling by eating too much. If I felt I had permission to eat anything, including something chocolate every day, I found it easy to continue to pay attention to the amounts and the calories consumed. For a number of years I have watched my brother gain and lose weight following the Atkins weight loss method. He finally agreed that his system was not succeeding and I had to laugh when he announced that he was joining Weight Watchers. I think he will have a better chance of success with their well balanced food plan. But nothing is guaranteed. It probably is best to find a good model of moderation in eating and forge ahead with the hope of moderate success. |
