Movies
Movies are a favorite form of entertainment. They are universally enjoyed and can be shared across cultures. I usually rent several movies that may or not be popular or well known. Recently I viewed The Girl in the Cafe and enjoyed it very much. It is funny and sad and touching at the same time. It is about an unlikely romance between an older Civil Servant and a young woman. The woman turns out to be more outspoken than expected with very surprising consequences. It stars Kelly MacDonald and Bill Nighy. I also saw Don’t Move with Sergio Castellitto and Penelope Cruz. This too was a surprise. It is about a tempestuous love affair and the unintended consequences. The third movie was This Boy's Life a 1993 movie with Ellen Barkin, a very young Leonardo DiCaprio, and Robert De Niro. This was directed by Michael Caton-Jones based on the autobiography by Tobias Wolff. Also about unintended consequences. |
